The Yanashi dynasty and the Empire of Danuk have been in a state of "peace" for the past ten years. Seperated by the Great Forest which has no completely safe paths through it, only small skirmish parties have clashed. Magic in the world of Arca does not exist to the common man. Unlike in previous ages where ones who wielded magic could go about freely, in both Empires anyone who uses any form of magic is executed. To most people's minds any magical or supernatural creatures are just things in myths, completely unreal but their cynisism is no defence. In the great forest Savage humans weild magic in tribal societies, leading raids upon the civilised lands, and worse things dwell in the darker parts of the forest. In place of the lost magic, Technology has made a rise in the empires.
You are a group of adventurers living in a small town on the edge of the Yanashi's dynasty and on the border of the Great Forest. The town has a lack of the superior technology of the cities and makes use of the old ways to produce its main business which is in lumber from the forest. Recently a number of loggers have been disapearing whilst working.
